    About the Founder

    Jim Semple


    Boomtrek® was registered in 2003 with the intent of creating a travel portal and no formal concept right away in the months following Jim Semple's open-heart surgery procedure to fix a heart defect (basically a hole the size of a quarter, leading to shortness of breath). Life smacked him right in the face "lifes too short" he says, and a world-tour was being visualized, then booked to begin in 2004. Over a span of four months, Jim visited 25 countries and a concept of local search was being born with the vision of helping future travelers navigate their way through new cities. Some philanthropy, 1.5% of net proceeds are donated annually towards heart & stroke research.
